The hearing was called to order at 6:30 pm by Supervisor Nelson. Trustee Svacha led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll call: David Nelson, Supervisor; Don Griffith, Trustee; Dick Kosner, Trustee; Arthur Rice, Trustee; Roberta Svacha, Trustee.

Also present: Priscilla Rose, Township Clerk; Tom Gooch, Township Highway Commissioner; Becci Tonigan, Township Assessor; Tim Murray- Township attorney; Carol Kosner- Township resident

There was no public comment.

There was a motion by Trustee Rice which was seconded by Trustee Kosner to adopt ordinance no. 09-01- the budget for Cuba Township Road Maintenance and Road and Bridge funds for fiscal 2009-2010.

Roll call: Griffith- yes; Kosner- yes; Rice- yes; Svacha- yes; Nelson- yes. Motion carried.

Discussion took place regarding the budget for fiscal 2009-2010 for the Cuba Township General Town budget. Nelson told the board that he would like to strive for a balanced budget. Rose reported to the board that the actual tax extension figures have been confirmed to the Township from Lake County and these figures have been put in to the revenue line of the budget.

Tonigan told the board that the legal line in the Assessor’s budget may need to be increased. Due to the current economic situation, she anticipates an increased number of appeals this year. Legal funds may particularly be needed to deal with The Garland’s appeal. Tonigan told the board that the factor for Cuba Township for the upcoming year will be .9987.

Various other line items in the budget were reviewed, discussed and adjusted.

A motion was made by Trustee Rice and seconded by Trustee Griffith to recess the hearing to reconvene at a later time this day after Clerk Rose has prepared the hard copy of 09-01- Budget for Cuba TownshipRoad Maintenance and Road and Bridgeordinance for signing.

Motion carried.

The hearing was recessed at 7:00 pm.

Trustee Rice made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Kosner to reconvene the hearing at 8:47 pm.

Road and Bridge Fund- $458,000.00

Road Maintenance Fund - $2,208,500.00

Total appropriations $2,666,500.00

A motion was made by Trustee Griffith and seconded by Trustee Kosner to adjourn. The hearing was adjourned at 8:50 pm.
