CUBA TOWNSHIP SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Supervisor Nelson called the meeting to order at 6:30 am. Those present said the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll call: David Nelson, Supervisor; Don Griffith, Trustee; Trustee; Jack Mumaw; Trustee; Art Rice, Trustee; Roberta Svacha, Trustee- absent.
Also present: Priscilla Rose, Clerk; Tom Gooch, Highway Commissioner; Rebecca Tonigan, Assessor; Tim Murray, Township attorney

There was no public comment
Review of Township bookkeeper/accountant position
Nelson addressed the board and presented the separation and release
agreement for Nancy Donati.
A motion was made by Trustee Rice and seconded by Trustee Mumaw to recess to executive session for personnel reasons.
Roll call: Griffith- yes; Mumaw- yes; Rice- yes; Svacha- absent; Nelson- yes. The meeting recessed to executive session at 6:35 am.
The special meeting resumed at 7:21 am

Nelson told the board that he has hired Jenny Powell for the bookkeeper position. He feels that her qualifications met the Township requirements and that she is able to begin immediately. This is important as Donati will be leaving in the next several weeks. He continued that he has checked her references which were superior and that Gooch has met her and is agreeable to hiring her. He feels the fact that she is a Township resident is an asset as well. She will be taking an accounting test with Randy Gross on Monday, June 7, 2010 and will begin training with Algonquin Township on the Sage System in the upcoming week. It was confirmed that the position is part-time, hourly with no benefits and that the work hours are flexible at this point, possibly no more than 20 hours per week.
The salary for the position will be paid entirely from the General Town budget. It was suggested that Powell attend the June 10, 2010 board meeting to introduce herself.
Discussion began regarding the separation agreement with Nancy Donati. Trustee Griffith made a motion, which was seconded by Trustee Rice to present Nancy Donati with the separation agreement and release.
Roll call: Griffith- yes; Mumaw- yes; Rice- yes; Svacha- absent; Nelson- yes. Motion carried.
Gooch excused himself from the meeting at 7:22 am.
Review of IMRF eligibility of Clerk and Assessor
Nelson told the board that he received a letter from IMRF requesting
resolutions permitting participation in IMRF by the Clerk and Assessor. This
letter is pursuant to several phone calls from Rose to IMRF regarding the
situation. Various discussion took place regarding eligibility and the effective
dates of the participation by the Clerk and Assessor.
A motion was made by Trustee Griffith and seconded by Trustee Mumaw to adopt resolution no.
10-R-01 permitting IMRF participation by the Cuba Township Clerk effective July 1990.
Roll call: Mumaw- yes; Rice- yes; Svacha- absent; Nelson- yes; Griffith- yes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Trustee Griffith and seconded by Trustee Mumaw to adopt resolution no. 10-R-02 permitting IMRF participation by the Cuba Township Assessor effective August 2004.
Roll call: Svacha- absent; Nelson- yes; Mumaw- yes; Rice- yes; Griffith- yes. Motion carried.
A motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Griffith and seconded by Trustee Mumaw. Motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 am.
