As mentioned above, Cuba Township wants to increase awareness and usage of Township services.  Please refer to the enclosed guide as  your reference to these services.

One service I’d like to highlight is the Cuba Township food pantry.  This pantry is available to any Township resident indicating  a need.   Our General Assistance Coordinators, Cheryl Tanaka and Marsha Wehrle, are happy to assist residents with groceries from the pantry and any other services that may be appropriate.  An intake interview for a first time family or individual will be conducted and then groceries can be distributed every 30 days.  Other services which might be applicable will also be discussed.

As the Township food pantry is stocked solely on donations, we are always grateful for the

generosity of our donors.  Space prohibits us from listing the names of all recent donors here, but please know that we are grateful to the individuals, families, school groups and others who have kept our pantry shelves well stocked.  Donations of any non-perishable food items can be accepted Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.  Special arrangements can be made to accept large donations.

Additionally, the 4th annual Have a Heart Food Drive will be held Saturday, February 12, 2005.  This food drive will benefit the pantries of both Barrington and Cuba Townships.   Please see the enclosed flyer for more information.

As always, your Cuba Township elected officials are here to serve you.  Please feel free to contact us with your questions, concerns and suggestions.

A Message from the

Cuba Township Board of Trustees

Thanks to all residents who responded to the Resident Survey included in our Fall 2004 Cuba News.  A total of 152 completed surveys were received– the feedback from everyone is appreciated!

In general, Cuba Township residents have a good idea of the services provided by the Assessor, Town Clerk and the Highway Commissioner.  However, it was noted in the survey responses, that services offered under the General Township category were not recognized or not utilized by residents.  This means Cuba Township needs to do a better job in communicating the services we offer!  Hopefully, by utilizing the Township staff, you can avoid unnecessary trips to Waukegan, the Lake County seat, or other offices not in our local area.  We also recognize that the awareness for any of these services is dependent  on an individual’s need and we are challenged to find ways to make this information more readily available.  To that end, we have included inside this newsletter a handy reference guide to services offered by Cuba Township.  Please feel free to post it on your refrigerator or other convenient spot.

The completed Resident Survey forms as well as the detailed tabulation are available for review with the Town Clerk.  Please feel free to call the office or stop by if you are interested in looking at these papers.

We thank you again for your support and response.
