As you will see, the Senior Freeze is currently a tiered benefit for incomes between $45,000 and $50,000.  The state legislature is looking into changing this back to a flat amount, but as of this date that has not been changed.  The tiered benefit is as follows:

If your household income is $45,000 or less, you will receive the full benefit.

Example:     60,000 assessment for 2005 (base year)

                    75,000 assessment for 2006

15,000 difference (freeze benefit)

If your household income is over $45,000 but not more than $46,250, you will get 80% of the benefit.

Example:     60,000 assessment for 2005 (base year)

                  75,000 assessment for 2006

15,000 difference x .80 = 12,000 (freeze benefit)

If your household income is over $46,250 but not more than $47,500, you will get 60% of the benefit.

Example:     60,000 assessment for 2005 (base year)

                    75,000 assessment for 2006

15,000 difference x .60 = 9,000 (freeze benefit)

If your household income is over $47,500 but not more than $48,750, you will get 40% of the benefit.

Example:     60,000 assessment for 2005 (base year)

                    75,000 assessment for 2006

15,000 difference x .40 = 6,000 (freeze benefit)

If your household income is over $48,750 but not more than $50,000, you will get 20% of the benefit.

Example:     60,000 assessment for 2005 (base year)

                    75,000 assessment for 2006

15,000 difference x .20 = 3,000 (freeze benefit)
