CUBA TOWNSHIP

As we view summer in the rearview mirror, the buzz of the mosquito is a faint, annoying  memory.  With record level summer rainfall producing unprecedented mosquito populations, Cuba Township enhanced the existing larviciding program to include 3 sprayings for adult mosquitoes.  On August 12, 19, and 26 Clarke Mosquito provided adult spraying in unincorporated sections of the Township to coordinate with the spraying done by the Villages of Tower Lakes, North Barrington and Lake Barrington.

A fonder summer memory is the produce that has been donated to the Cuba Township food pantry by many generous local gardeners and Smart Farm.  This produce was shared weekly with our food pantry recipients along with other perishable food items donated by Trader Joe’s in Lake Zurich and the Fox River Grove Panera.  The pantry provides perishable items weekly and non-perishable items monthly to families and individuals who have been screened by our Community Liaisons.  If you or someone you know could benefit from the services of the food pantry, please call the Cuba Township office at (847) 381-1924 to schedule an intake interview.  Donations of non-perishable, non-expired items are always welcome.  See the wish list below for items in high demand.

Smart Farm is a local 501 (c) (3) whose mission is to  provide an educational garden for Barrington and nearby communities.  Additionally, they provide fresh produce to local food pantries, including Cuba Township.  We are grateful for their ongoing support of the food pantry and were pleased to participate in their first Floating Zucchini Kayak Race.  Go to smartfarms.org for more information.

As taxpayers dollars are under close scrutiny, Cuba Township strives to provide efficient and relevant services to our residents. The approximate 2-3% portion of your property tax bill that goes to Cuba Township provides services as prescribed and permissible by Illinois state law in a responsive and responsible manner.  Our doors are always open for you to address your concerns, comments, suggestions and, of course, compliments.  Please feel free to contact us, or join us at our monthly board meetings which are held the second  Thursday of each month at 7 p.m., at the Township office, 28000 W. Cuba Road, Barrington, IL.
